Valentine Day Decorations
There’s a lot that comes with celebrating February 14th. You have to pick out a great gift, figure out what to do about dinner, and eventually put up some Valentine’s Day decorations to set the mood for love’s own holiday. It might seem like a bit too much, but there’s nothing quite like a romantic evening to help keep the home fires burning, so it’s best to pay attention to the details. Even small touches can make a big difference – and they don’t have to cost an arm or a leg, either. (You need those to wrap around your loved one or drop to one knee, you know?)
If you are in the market for some ways to spruce up your dating environment, here are some of the best that take just a little time and even less money:
Candles
This may seem like a no-brainer, but it can actually be much more than just the way you light the room. With the wide range of scented candles on the market, you can create a multi-sensory experience for your cozy evening together. You might, for example, choose “sugar cookie” if your sweetheart loves the smell of dessert fresh from the oven. Or, if you are in the mood to create a soothing environment, find something with the scent of jasmine or lavender to take the edge off a hectic day so you can focus on each other.
Hearts
Anyone who geared up for Valentine’s Day during primary school cut out basic decorations to adorn the classroom or home, but that doesn’t mean they have to stay there! Taking some time to cut out bright red, white, and pink hearts can provide a touch of whimsy to your festivities. Depending on how much time you have and your bend for creative tasks, you can make intricate, layered designs or just grab a pair of scissors to make as many as you like quickly. For extra credit, you might take a piece of chalk, markers, or even other pieces of colored paper and make them look like the “Be Mine” and “I’m Yours” candy hearts that are everywhere.
Balloons
Some might say they are pretty corny, but a bunch of helium-filled hearts can add a bit of fun to your date. Everyone has a different idea of what they find “cute” for Valentine’s Day, but this a good bet early in a relationship when you’re still getting to know each other. With the wide variety of shapes available on the market nowadays, you can get as creative as you like – a dozen roses, as a joke? – and even have a custom design printed. The choices are nearly limitless.
Pictures
If you have been together for a long time, this is a great way to take a walk down memory lane. You can gather all the photos you have framed in the house and create a collage or scatter small bunches of them all over the dining area. It’s a great way to reminisce about how far you’ve come as you talk about where you’re going. If nothing else, you can laugh at all your old haircuts.
