Your birthday marks another year together;
Such wonderful times, I couldn’t ask for more,
Spending precious minutes, hours and days
With you, my love, whom I cherish and adore.
We’ve shared so much, we two, in love and friendship;
each year our bond just seems to grow and grow.
I always want to be right next to you;
to touch and kiss you means more than you know.
You’re always there for me with a loving smile;
I’m never happier than when you’re near.
I thought my love for you could not grow stronger;
and yet I love you even more this year.
By Christina Georgina Rossetti
MY heart is like a singing bird
Whose nest is in a water’s shoot;
My heart is like an apple-tree
Whose boughs are bent with thick-set fruit;
My heart is like a rainbow shell
That paddles in a halcyon sea;
My heart is gladder than all these,
Because my love is come to me.
Raise me a daïs of silk and down;
Hang it with vair and purple dyes;
Carve it in doves and pomegranates,
And peacocks with a hundred eyes;
Work it in gold and silver grapes,
In leaves and silver fleurs-de-lys;
Because the birthday of my life
Is come, my love is come to me.
