Consisting of three isolated cliff rocks, namely, Stella, Mezzo and Scopolo or Fuori , the Faraglioni is haunting in its appeal. Situated on the eastern side of Capri on a cliff 32 meters above the sea is Casa Malaparte or Villa Malaparte, a unique specimen of architecture that commands the Gulf of Salerno. A block of red masonry, the Casa Malaparte has reverse pyramidal stairs that lead up to the roof terrace. Even more amazing is the elevated freestanding curving white wall that stands on the roof. For some adventure in this otherwise languorous isle, you can enjoy an exciting chairlift from Piazza della Vittoria to the highest point on Capri, the top of Mount Solaro at 1,932 feet. You may also swim or perhaps climb the cliffs in the Green Grotto which resembles an enormous liquid emerald. The White Grotto is an enamoring limestone rock cavern stuffed with stalactites and stalagmites. It is so called because the limestone seems to reflect the white rays of light only. Another oft frequented spot in Capri is the medieval castle, Castiglione which dates back to 1400s. Other important tourist spots include Axel Munte House, a specialty museum, Carthusia, a specialty shop, and the religious sites of Santa Maria a Cetrella and Chiesa San Michele. The specialty shop, Amedeo Canfora, however, requires a special mention since it sells world famous hand- made sandals, often worn by celebrities like Maria Callas and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
