Roxanne is a very sweet film on love. The plot revolves around an astronomer Roxanne Kowalski and her falling in love.
She dreamed of a handsome romantic man who will be intelligent as well. Daryl Hannah has excelled as Roxanne and this highly watchable film explores love with its many twists and turns. Roxanne is directed by Fred Schepisi. The film was released in 1987.
The actors portraying the principal characters have indeed done a commendable job. Steve Martin as C. D. Bales, Daryl Hannah as Roxanne Kowalski and Rick Rossovich as Chris McConnell have all excelled in portraying their characters. Bales is the town's Fire Chief who has to deal with a lot of peculiar and weird characters. They range from young to old, but in the midst of all these, he nurtures a desperate desire to be loved. Bales has a peculiarity and that is his huge and long nose.
Roxanne is the astronomer residing in the town, she falls for Bales' personality and Chris's looks. The love letters which Chris used to make Roxanne come closer to him ended in a no win situation for all, Roxanne finds out in the end that they were written by Bales to help Chris win Roxanne. Then Roxanne falls in a dilemma, she tries to understand the tangled web a little better.
Steve Martin as Bales is completely natural. And Daryl Hannah is really too good as the young woman caught in a tangled web of love. Her portrayal of Roxanne has definitely added to the luster of the movie. For a really love film, Roxanne can hardly be compared to any other movie. Connect to My Dear Valentine for more.
