But finally for Christmas celebration he lands up with Joe and has a gala time performing naked on TV for Christmas. On the other hand Juliet, Peter and Mark have a different story to tell. Juliet's wedding video with Peter turns out to be a disaster and thus she contacts mark despite knowing of his cold behavior towards her, for his copy of personal video. On receiving the video she realizes that it was mostly focused on her and that mark had always been in love. After a quick confession to her mark could move on with his life and Juliet could continue with her happy married life. Simultaneously Jamie (Colin Firth) is Mark's friend and is a writer retiring to solitude after knowing that his girl friend had been cheating on him.
Here in solitary cottage he comes across Aurelia (Lucia Moniz) who can't speak English. Despite the language barrier they manage to communicate and thus finally they land up together. On another front Harry, Karen and Mia have a love triangle going on between them. Karen being Harry's wife remains more consumed in her teaching activities and managing her brother whose wife passed away recently. In the mean Harry got attracted to Mia his secretary. When Karen found about this due to the change in Christmas gifts she decided to speak to Harry who was ashamed of his folly and thus she decides to give him another chance.
David and Natalie have a very soft and romantic story to convey. David (Hugh Grant) being the prime minister is single and seems to feel a spark with Natalie (Martine McCutcheon) who was a part of the catering stuff. After few incidents of clashes with the president of United States, David decides to initially put an end to his silent affair with Natalie. But after he gets a Christmas card from Natalie he decides to walk up to her and convey his love to her. Daniel, Sam and Joanna have a kind of a sad and difficult story to reveal. Daniel (Liam Neeson) just lost his Joanna to some major illness leaving himself and their step son Sam (Thomas Sangster) to fend for themselves. In the mean time Sam also falls in love with a girl in his school named Joanna too.
When he fails to convey his love to her he has to chase her to the airport and tell her he loves her. At the same time the stories of Sarah and Karl have a totally different edge to add to the concept of love. Sarah (Laura Linney) though she loves Karl (Rodrigo Santoro) but has to let go off the opportunity of conveying her love for him for the sake of her responsibility towards her mentally ill brother who keeps on contacting her all the time and this gives a forlorn angle to the main story.
Colin (Kris Marshall) and his friend Tony (Abdul Salis) have a spicy aspect to add to this other wise serious yet comedy movie. They finally found the girls of their dreams after searching for quite a long time to come. Johny (Martin Freeman) and Judy (Joanna Page) work as stand-ins for the bedroom scenes in high budget films and despite their outright sexual actions they are nervous around each other and are very cautious about their relationship and they pursue it with a first kiss at the end of the film.
