Catcher, a classic play boy in the block, Catcher is determined to expose Barbara as a fraud and creates an alter ego named 'Zip Martin', to attract her. In the process Catche's best friend, the neurotic and unhappy Peter McMannus (played by David Hyde Pierce) tries his luck haplessly while pursuing his object of philia, Vicki Hiller, Barbara's splendid and plucky editor. The character of Vicky is that of a cut throat woman's in a man's world.
