Don Juan is a historical character of the 17th century. He has gone down in history as a very lustful man and a shameless womanizer.
Lord Byron has a very famous work on him. But the 1995 movie Don Juan DeMarco is not about lust rather, it is about love. The film was directed by Jeremy Leven and received raving reviews from critics.
Don Juan DeMarco plot revolves round troubled love. The principal characters have been portrayed by Marlon Brando as Dr. Jack Mickler, Johnny Depp as Don Juan, Faye Dunaway as Marilyn Mickler, Geraldine Pailhas as Dona Ana. There are others actors in the movie have also contributed significantly to the overall success of the movie. The plot evolves gradually through a young man who comes to New York in search of his lost love. Depression led him to believe that he has nothing to live for in this life and attempts suicide.
Dr. Mickler, an experienced psychiatrist helps Don Juan come to his senses and realize life is not so bad after all. But funnily the Dr. Mickler starts believing that the young guy is really Don Juan though the rest of the hospital staff disagrees. But the doctor very strongly believes that the best cure for Don Juan is to pretend that he was carried away by fantasy and that he is only an average boy.
