Dry Cooked Potatoes

Potatoes can be cooked in numerous ways and surprisingly all the recipes are equally appetizing. The best thing about potatoes is that they can be cooked with or without spices and the method of cooking varies from one region to another region in the world. One of the most well-liked potato recipes is dry cooked potatoes, and this recipe is perfect for a special occasion like Valentine's Day. My Dear Valentine is giving an uncomplicated recipe of dry cooked potatoes for you to try and make your Valentine admire your culinary skills.

Ingredients:
4 medium-sized potatoes
6 tablespoonfuls (tbls)of white oil
Pinch of ground asafetida
1 tablespoonful of whole black mustard seeds
Ground turmeric (1/4 tsp)
Salt as per taste
Cayenne pepper, small amount or as per taste



Method:

a) Peel the potatoes and dice them into small pieces.
b) Drain the potatoes just before cooking.
c) Heat the oil over a medium high flame.
d) When the oil is heated, put in the asafetida.
e) Put in the mustard seeds after that.
f) Put in the turmeric.
g) Now put in the potatoes.
h) Stir and fry for half a minute.
i) Cover the potatoes and turn the flame to low allowing the potatoes soak the flavor of the masalas.
j) Cook covered and make sure that the potatoes do not become overcooked. Stir gently in between.
k) When the potatoes are done, sprinkle the salt and cayenne pepper over them and mix thoroughly. Serve hot.
