Valentine's Day breakfast appetizers are really mouth watering. Some of them are so delicious that they seem to be out of this world and are, and will remain everlastingly popular. Belgian Waffles with Cherry Sauce belongs to this category.
They look tempting and taste just as good. My Dear Valentine is presenting Belgian Waffles with Cherry Sauce recipe to try out.
Ingredients:
Flour (2 cups)
Sugar (tbsp)
Baking powder (1 to 1.5 tsp)
Salt (1/2 tsp)
Milk (2 cups)
a) Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt thoroughly. Separately, mix milk, butter, and egg yolks. Add to dry ingredients and stir to moisten. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in waffle iron following manufacturer's directions.
b) Now make the cherry sauce. Mix sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon, add orange juice, cherries and orange peel. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, boil until thickened.
c) Serve the warm cherry sauce over waffles and top with sweetened whipped cream.
