Republic of Zimbabwe or Zimbabwe, as the country is popularly known, is a landlocked country in southern Africa, between Zambezi and Limpopo rivers. It borders South Africa to the south, Botswana to the west, Zambia to the northwest and Mozambique to the east. The country has indigenous residents and the people whose forefathers had settled in this country long time back. Therefore many festivals occur in Zimbabwe and the mid February festival of love has a place in the Zimbabwean social calendar. Many in Zimbabwe are pretty poor and celebrating with lavishly is beyond the means of many. The last couple of years, Valentine's Day in Zimbabwe was simply another dull and fruitless search for food or jobs for hundreds of young Zimbabweans and understandably love was the last thing on their minds.

But earlier in times of more stable economy, Valentine's Day in Zimbabwe was full of flowers, chocolates, parties and gifts. The common gifts to be given on Valentine's Day are perfumes, chocolates, flower bouquets or trendy pieces of jewelry.
