Valentines Day is celebrated all over the world on 14th February. The most important tradition that is associated with this day is the giving and the receiving of gifts. The country of Romania is situated in Southeastern Europe and Valentines Day in Romania is not celebrated in a grand manner.

Valentines Day in Romania is not celebrated in the way as it is celebrated in other parts of the world. The people of Romania celebrate Dragobete, (he traditional holiday for lovers) with much pomp and vigor on 24th February. This occasion that is Dragobete is named after folklore Romanian character who, is supposed by the people of Romania to be the son of Baba Dacha.

It is only in the recent times that the citizens of Romania started celebrating Valentines Day but Valentines Day has been condemned by the some nationalist organizations of Romania, such as the Noua Dreapta.

However on Valentines Day in Romania, the citizens of Romania gift gifts, flowers, cards to each other and tries to treat his/her beloved in a very special way. The citizens of Romania spend the Valentines Day by going out for a, movie or goes out to have a candlelight dinner with their Valentine or spend the day with friends, relatives and family members.
