The third Saturday of October is considered as Sweetest Day. On this day candy and sweet dishes are distributed. So, Sweetest Day Recipes are always special. This day was observed as the Sweetest Day since 1922 during the time of Great Depression. Few mentionable Sweetest Day Recipes are:

Chocolate Mousse

The ingredients for the Chocolate Mousse are:

  1. Six oozes of semisweet chocolates
  2. Three egg yolks
  3. Three tablespoon of confectioner’s sugar
  4. One cup of thick cream
  5. One tablespoon of vanilla essence

Preparation : The eggs need to be beaten in a bowl. The chocolate has to be melted with water and made smooth. Three tablespoons of the chocolate needs to be mixed with the egg yolks. Cook the mixture over low heat. After 15 minutes the hot mixture needs to be transferred to a new bowl. Separately, the cream, sugar and vanilla have to be put on high mixer till it becomes soft. Half cup of the mixture needs to be refrigerated. The rest of the mixture needs to be put in the freezer for 2 hours. Put the two mixtures together and serve.


Honey-Pineapple Chicken Drumettes

Ingredients:

  1. lb. chicken drumettes
  2. 1 garlic clove
  3. 1 C. fresh or canned pineapple
  4. 1/2 tablespoon of salt
  5. 1/2 tablespoon of ground black pepper
  6. 1 C. honey
  7. 1/2 C. soy sauce
  8. 2 tablespoon of vegetable oil

Process: The drumettes should be rinse and drained. The pineapples should be cut into 1 inch cubes. The garlic should be minced. Salt, pepper, honey, soya sauce, pineapple, vegetable oil and garlic needs to be mixed properly in a bowl. The drumettes need to be mixed as the paste. Then they should be cooked over low heat till cooked.


Creamy Pesto Shrimp Linguine
The ingredients required are:

  1. 2 cups of whipped cream
  2. 1 pound of linguine pasta which should be cooked and drained
  3. 1/3 cup of pesto
  4. 1/2 cup of butter
  5. 1/2 teaspoon of grounded black pepper
  6. 1 pound of large shrimp - peeled and divined
  7. 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese

Process: The butter has to be melted. Then the cream and the pepper should be added. Stir for 6-8 minutes constantly. The grated cheese needs to be added once the mixture is hot. Now the pesto sauce needs to be added and the mixture will turn thick. At last add shrimp and they will turn pink.


Chocolate covered strawberries

  1. 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  2. 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  3. 1 tbsp. shortening (do not use butter, margarine, or oil)
  4. 2 pints fresh strawberries, rinsed and patted dry

 

Preparation: The tray should be covered with wax paper. The chocolate chips have to be heated in microwave for one minute. The chocolate needs to be melted. Two third portion of the strawberry have to be dipped in the melted chocolate. Then put the chocolate dipped strawberries in the freezer. For best taste the strawberries need to be consumed within 24 hours.


Angel Hair Chicken Pasta
Ingredients for Angel Hair Chicken Pasta

  1. 3 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  2. 2 tablespoons butter
  3. 2 of a .7 ounce package of dry Italian-style salad dressing mix
  4. 1/4 cup white wine
  5. 1/2 can of condensed golden mushroom soup
  6. 2 ounces cream cheese with chives
  7. 1 (8 ounce) package of angel hair pasta

Preparation : The butter needs to be melted over low heat. Then add the package of dressing. Blend the wine and mushroom soup. Then add the cream cheese and stir till the mixture turns smooth. The chicken breasts need to be arranged in the oven tray and the sauce has to be poured. The whole matter needs to be baked in a preheated oven (325 degree centigrade) for an hour. Boil the pasta with salt and drain the water. Once the chicken is ready, serve with the pasta.

 


Cranberry Martini
Ingredients:

  1. 1 1.5 fluid oz. jigger vodka
  2. 1/2 fluid oz. orange liqueur
  3. 1/2 fluid oz. dry vermouth
  4. 2 1.5 fluid oz. jiggers cranberry juice
  5. 1 C. ice
  6. cranberries

Preparation:
Vodka, orange liqueur, vermouth, cranberry juice and ice need to be shaken well in a cocktail shaker. It should be shaken well to make it chill. Pour the mix in a martini glass and garnish with cranberries.


Double chocolate hot chocolate
Ingredients:

  1. 4 qt.box instant dry milk
  2. 1 lb. 14 oz. Nesquick chocolate drink mix
  3. 20 oz.jar regular coffee mate
  4. 1 1/2 C. powdered sugar
  5. 1 pkg. (6) Hershey Bars broken into small pieces
  6. 1 pkg. mini marshmallows

Take all the ingredients including the broken Hershey in a bowl. Mix the hot milk and cocoa mix. Add the marshmallows and the candy cane. Store the drink for up to one year.


Muffins
Ingredients for Muffins are:

  1. 2 tablespoon Sugar
  2. 2 large Eggs; room temperature
  3. 2 teaspoon Baking powder
  4. 1¼ cups Sugar;
  5. 1¼ cups Mashed cooked sweet potatoes
  6. ½ cups Butter; room temperature
  7. 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  8. 1½ cups Flour
  9. ¼ teaspoon Nutmeg
  10. ¼ teaspoon Salt
  11. 1 cups Milk
  12. ½ cups Chopped raisins
  13. ¼ cups Chopped walnuts or pecans
  14. ¼ teaspoon Cinnamon

Preperation: Preheat the oven till 400 degrees Fahrenheit. 24 muffin cups need to be greased properly. One and quarter cups sugar, sweet potato and butter needs to be beaten till the mixture becomes smooth. Baking powder, flour, spices and salt needs to be sift together. Now add the eggs to the mixture. Then add milk to the mixture. Add raisins and nuts. Pour the mixture into the muffin cups. Sprinkle cinnamon powder. Bake the muffins for 25-30 minutes. Serve them hot. You may freeze the muffins and reheat them.


Honey Apple Tea
The ingredients for Honey Apple Tea:

  1. 1/3 C. honey
  2. 3 C. unsweetened apple juice
  3. 3 C. boiling water
  4. Lemon slices

Brew the tea bags in a 2 quart pot in boiling water. Then remove the bags and add honey, apple juice. Add ice and serve chilled.

 

Sweet Noodle
Ingredients

  1. 1/2 pkg. egg noodles
  2. 2 cans tomato sauce
  3. 1/2 C. white sugar

Preparation
This is a very easy an instant way to cook Sweet noodles. Cook the egg noodles as directed in the packet. Once it is cooked add tomato sauce and sugar. This dish can be served hot or cold.

 

Cranberry Apples
Ingredients:

  1. 4-5 medium sized apples
  2. 1 can whole berry cranberries
  3. 1 Tbs. cinnamon
  4. 1/3 C. water

Preparation

The apples should be washed carefully. Cut the apples into ½ inches each. Cook them in water till they are soft. Remove from heat and add cranberries and cinnamon. You can serve it hot or cold. Similarly you can add bread on the mixture and bake it. Apple cranberry bread pudding will be made.
