Regency Romance Novel

Regency English society was characterized by glamorous women looking for a prized match, fabulous balls and parties. But in spite of all these activities, the social standards enforced strict etiquette. Since society has begun to look forward, where it was possible for young girls to look around for a husband without the help of her father or brothers, it is only natural that such themes should form plots or sub plots of Regency romance novels. Morality in Regency England raises certain questions. It was common for a chamber maid to be the mistress of the lord of the manor. Such occurrences or rather short lived affairs between a high born and a low born which often resulted in a child were not as uncommon as it seems.
The dance floors were always crowded with young people, high browed men and young women who were more on a look out for a profitable match than a few dances. Novelists had portrayed this “activity” of young women with maddening accuracy.

Even the sub-plots of Paranormal Romance Novels are romantic in nature. Dark Desire by Christine Feehan is one of the most well-known Paranormal Romance Novel.

A few pages of Emma by Jane Austen will make the point clear. In fact an idea on Regency romance novels can be had from Jane Austen’s works. Her world was the world of Regency England, where a young man like Frank Churchill, can pass his days without a care in the world. Or the world of Elinor Dashwood who learns to accept love the way it is, with a lot of strings attached!

Regency romance novels authors had portrayed the world in miniature and thus, these novels are highly interesting and pleasant. To know more on this, please go through Mydearvalentine.
