Love’s biological parents broke up in her childhood only and she was left alone to fend for herself. Love had a troubled and traumatic childhood.
She got thrown out from many places, including her boarding school. By the time she was in Tokyo, Love was already working as a stripper. She had got in touch with numerous musicians and befriended them and tried to gain more acquaintances among prominent media characters. At 22 she found herself back in Portland, Oregon, and she moved over to Los Angeles with Kat Bjelland. Here she formed her first band, which lasted only two gigs and a demo tape. Among her friends were Michael Stipe of R.E.M. and Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins. Corgan was the last affair she had before she got married to Kurt Cobain, the lead singer from Nirvana.
Love had also joined an all girls rock band with Kat, but she was more successful as an actress in a special appearance in Alex Cox' movie. Love married Cobain on February 24, 1992 in Waikiki Beach, Hawaii and on August 18 of that year, their daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, was born. The real story of Courtney Love tells us about the downward spiral of her husband Cobain and her doomed relationship with him, even as Love’s image was getting damaged because of her heroin abuse and her daughter was sepated from her for sometime. Cobain’s suicide was the final nail in the coffin and that probably broke her totally.
