This season brought with it the blossoming of love and recognition of the relationship between Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles for more than 30 years, which finally culminated to their marriage. Their marriage took place on 8th April 2005 at the Windsor's Guildhall. Though it was meant to be a small and private ceremony, at least 20,000 people were present there to cheer for them as they got married. Once the marriage was over they returned to the Windsor Castle to take blessings from the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Among the other famous personalities and delegates the Prime Minister and other diplomats and entertainment personalities were also present there to cheer for the lovers who are now husband and wife. Later they all were united in a reception organized and hosted by the Queen at the State Apartments of the castle. The Queen declared how elated she was to have Camilla in her family and wished the best to the couple. Following their marriage the couple left for their honeymoon at Birkhall in Scotland and the Bentley, which drove the couple over to their honeymoon spot was decorated by the Princes William and Harry.
With this marriage Camilla became the second most senior female member in the Royal Family after the Queen. With their wedding their long-standing and jeopardized romance finally got recognition for itself. Their first meeting was during a polo match at Windsor, some 30 years back and after that Charles went on to join the Royal Navy and Camilla got married to Andrew Parker Bowles, a cavalry officer. In 1981 Charles got married to Princess Diana but he never loved her and Diana somehow holds Camilla responsible for the wreckage of their marriage. Diana passed away in a car accident in 1997 in Paris and at that time they were already divorced. Camilla, since marriage, will be known as the Princes Consort as concluded by the Clarence House and thus she will be henceforth is addressed as Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall.
This marriage has both religious and political implications. According to Tony Blair if Charles became the Governor of England then his marriage with Camilla, who's a divorcee, would come under speculation by the Anglicans who still remain opposed to such practices. But surprisingly, Britons who support this marriage outnumber those who oppose it.
Thirty years back Charles and Camilla met for the first time and became good friends but with the advance of time they lost touch and Camilla got married to Charles's friend and the Army Officer Andrew. Their contacts had resumed and Charles later got married to Diana. Andrew and Camilla both had extramarital involvements while they were married to each other. Charles and Camilla had resumed their relationship during the 1970's from subtle advances to direct declaration.
Diana, as stated earlier, blamed Camilla for contributing the most in breaking her marriage. Despite such accusations Charles relations with Camilla was not affected and they used to buy gifts to each other and call each other by pet names. But in the presence of Diana in the public, Camilla became quite unpopular as her romance with Charles was made public in "Diana: Her true Story".
This was followed by the Camillagate Scandal where a phone interaction between Charles and Camilla was recorded and published without their prior knowledge or awareness of this. With their marriage, all controversies have been put to shelf. But to end this intriguing romance what better way is there than to reveal their real associations with each other. Ever since their marriage it has finally surfaced that they are ninth cousins to each other.
