Lucille Ball And Desi Arnaz

Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz's love for each other was often complicated and torturous. Lucille Ball today is an icon, though when she started her career, she had to opt for small roles in television and B grade films. Lucille made Hollywood her base and during the 1930's appeared in itsy-bitsy roles in innumerable films. Some of the films in which she made an appearance were Five Came Back, MacDonald Carey, The Bowery, Broadway Through

A Key Hole, Roman Scandals, Moulin Rouge, Nana, Hold That Girl, Bottoms Up, The Affairs Of Cellini and Murder At The Vanities. The names are by no means exhaustive, there are other countless films in which we see the presence of Lucille Ball. She gained worldwide popularity with her series in television, I Love Lucy which was on air from 1951 to 1957. And though she had other series to her credit, playing the madcap wife of a struggler made her a household name.

Ball married Desi Arnaz, a Cuban, who started as a professional musician for a Latin Orchestra. He learnt the tricks of the trade and returned to New York with his own orchestra band. They met in 1940. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz's marriage though happy for four years from 1940 to 1944, came under strain soon after. Arnaz loved Ball very much and they talked each night even after they divorced. Anyway, as we were discussing, Desi Arnaz had was heavily in to alcohol, contrabands and he was a rotten womanizer. It is really difficult for any wife to adjust with her husband who is under such potent spell. He had a clinical condition with his bowel, diverticulitis. It is indeed understandable that Ball could not possibly make the marriage work. It ended in a divorce in 1960. Marriage had ended but the love for each other was still going strong.

My Dear Valentine truly believes that Ball and Arnaz were attached to each other till the end. Their telephone conversation with each other every night was very poignant, showing love can survive many bitter circumstances. November 19th was the marriage anniversary of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. She received flowers on this day each year even after the divorce. Touching, isn't it?
