Titania And Oberon |
| |
A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of the earliest novels of the great dramatist, William Shakespeare. A Midsummer Night's Dream has quite a complex plot which revolves around the couples namely Hermia and Lysander, Helena and Demetrius and Titania and Oberon.
Oberon and Titania were the Fairy King and Fairy Queen. They resided in the fairy woodlands where Hermia and Lysander and Helena and Demetrius coincidentally come. What happens when the men and women from the mortal world and the fairies come in close contact with each other is very lyrically expressed by Shakespeare.

Titania and Oberon had a very happy and romantic marriage but when the people from the corporeal world entered the forest, they were in a state of estrangement. The cause of the estrangement was not very significant, but it was something that was very close toTitania's heart.
Oberon wanted the Indian page boy of Titania as his henchman or "Knight" since the child's mother was one of Titania's worshippers. As mentioned earlier, this issue was a bone of contention for the husband-wife duo. Oberon decided to punish Titania's disobedience and asked the mischievous Puck to help him apply the magical juice from a flower called "love-in-idleness". The interesting feature of the juice was that it made the person fall in love with anyone who is at first seen upon opening the eyes. Oberon applies the juice to Titania to make her give up the young page boy.
With a lot of mirthful misadventures, Oberon achieves what he had set out to get-Titania's page boy. Titania and Oberon are finally united and no rancor was created because of the application of the magic potion. The entangled romantic liaisons had happy endings and to know more on this, do visit My Dear Valentine .
