Antony And Cleopatra

Valentines Day is observed worldwide on 14th February. Valentines Day came to be associated with love and romance in the Middle Ages, as it was courtly love that flourished in the Middle Ages. Mark Antony, one of the administrators of Rome, along with Octavius Caesar and Aemilius Lepidus, after being becharmed by Cleopatra, the queen of Egypt has abandoned all his responsibilities that are associated with an administrator.Antony decides to return to his homeland, when he receives the message that Fulvia (Antony's wife) is dead and that Pompeii is making arrangements to rebel against Antony. Antony marries Octavius's sister Octavia, on Octavius's advice, in order to solidify their relationship with each other. Cleopatra expresses her anger when she comes to know about this marriage but finds solace in the fact that Octavia is unimpressive in her looks and has no doubts in her mind regarding the wining back her love once again.

Antonio along with his administrators settles their differences with Pompeii and Pompeii aggress to do so, on the condition that he is allowed to rule Sicilia and Sardania. Antonio gets the message that Octavius has attacked Pompeii. Pompeii is dead and Lepidus has been imprisoned by Octavius. Antony makes the decision of fighting Octavius on sea and Cleopatra tells Antony, that she would help Antonio with her fleet. Cleopatra deceives Antony and flees away with her fleet in the middle of the battle and Antony leaves his men sand follows Cleopatra and as a result Antony loses this battle. Antony returns to Alexandria and feels ashamed for his act.

Octavius sends a message to Cleopatra and asks Cleopatra to leave Antony and to be by his side. Antony eventually forgives Cleopatra and he challenges Caesar to fight him on land. Antony's lieutenants. Enorbus deceives Antony and joins hands with Octavius. Antonio sends the goods that belonged to Enorbus, which Enorbus did not take with him and this act of Antony forces Enorbus to commit suicide, as Enorbus felt guilty of his act. The battle goes well for Antony until it gets shifted on the land. The fleet abandons Antony, and once again Antony loses the battle and feels that Cleopatra has once again deceived him.

Cleopatra locks herself in a monument and gets the message send to Antony that she has killed herself. After getting this message Antony decides to kill himself and assigns the duty to Eros, to slay Antony. In order to avoid this duty Eros slays himself. Antony tires to kill himself and in the process manages to injure himself badly; at this moment Antony learns that Cleopatra is alive. Antony gets hoisted up to the monument, where Cleopatra has locked herself and in the arms of Cleopatra Antony breathes his last.

Cleopatra refuses Octavius' proposal to surrender. Cleopatra gets the information from one of her envoys that Caesar plans to parade Cleopatra through Rome. Cleopatra kills herself with the poison of the asp. Cleopatra's men fulfill the wish of Cleopatra, which is to bury her beside Antony. The death of Antony and Cleopatra makes the way for Octavius to become the first Roman emperor.
