Opaline love birds are a very recent color mutation in peach faced love birds. They first appeared in the United States in 1997. Opaline love birds are really striking, their brilliant colors light up the whole room. The plumage of the birds is a lighter shade of green and lacks the blue rump feathers which are also green. The birds bond quickly with their owners and they love interacting with the other birds in their cages and their masters.
Opaline love birds, which are not fully grown up, are often distinguishable from normal colored peachfaced in the nest. Opalines develop full, bright hood and tail coloring of the adult bird when they reach their fourth or sixth months.
