Opaline Love Bird

Opaline love birds are a very recent color mutation in peach faced love birds. They first appeared in the United States in 1997. Opaline love birds are really striking, their brilliant colors light up the whole room. The plumage of the birds is a lighter shade of green and lacks the blue rump feathers which are also green. The birds bond quickly with their owners and they love interacting with the other birds in their cages and their masters.

Opaline love birds, which are not fully grown up, are often distinguishable from normal colored peachfaced in the nest. Opalines develop full, bright hood and tail coloring of the adult bird when they reach their fourth or sixth months.

Green series birds have a red hood, while the blue series birds have bright grayish to creamy white hood. One pertinent aspect-Opaline love bird inheritance is linked with sex. If Opalines are bred with only Opalines, then the resultant generation will have Opaline genes which will be further handed down.

Opaline love birds are quite expensive. Medium green/Opaline, orangeface, Australian cinnamon and blue male is cheaper when compared to SF Violet green Opaline/Opaline or Medium SF Violet green Opaline. It is best to keep Opaline love birds in pairs or groups, these birds love interacting and attention.

They cackle most in the mornings and need space to fly around the cage. Too small cages will see drooping listless birds, whose span of life will be very short. Perches are a must for the birds they need lots of activity to be happy and contented. Visit My Dear Valentine for more of such amazing facts.
