2011 Halloween Day

Halloween is a lovely festival to celebrate. It is observed on October 31st every year. It is a secular celebration mostly concentrated in America. Other countries which celebrate Halloween are Europe, Japan, South America and some parts of East Asia.

Halloween Day is observed as a holiday. This is the festival which children love. There are so many interesting things to do on a Halloween that this festival is welcomed by all.

History of Halloween:

The origins of this amazing festival are not clearly known. Though, it is said to have derived from Celtic Festival of Samhain. It is also at times related to the Roman festival of Pomona or to the festival of dead, Parentalia. The Celtic festival seems more relevant in terms of this festival's origin, as the festival was celebrated to keep away evil ghosts and welcome good ghosts. The people used to dress as ghosts to drive away evil ghosts. The day was said to be a border which connected the two worlds.

The name Halloween was first brought into notice in the 16th century which came from the Scottish name All- Hallows- Eve.

On Halloween Day people take part in several fun filled activities. Some of which can be seen as follows:
