Fragrance oils are the most important ingredient for making perfumes. Fragrance oils are usually not used on their own;
they are mixed with artificial aroma compounds or essential oils. This mixture is then watered down with either propylene glycol, vegetable oil or mineral oils. Essential oils are the aromatic fluid derivatives of the plant in its purest form. But fragrance oils are artificial or synthetic as they are man-made in a laboratory where the chemist reproduces the chemical composition of a particular aromatic essential oil. There are some differences by which an essential oil can be distinguished from a fragrance oil.
Pure essential oils if dropped on paper do not leave any trace after they dry, but fragrance oils will leave an oily residue on paper.Designer fragrance oils are used extensively by the leading fashion houses for their wide range of perfumeries.
The leading design houses of the world have their own way of creating the fragrances. Houses of Estee Lauder, Calvin Klein, Caroline Herrera, Nina Ricci, Ralph Lauren or Elizabeth Arden choose only the best essential and fragrant oil for their masterpieces.
Essential oils like orange oil, rose oil, eucalyptus oil or ylang-ylang are used without inhibition. Other oils are also used for this purpose. Most of the designer fragrance oils are blended for the ultimate product. Most houses opt for three notes, the base note, the middle note and the top note. With this potent combination, it is hardly surprising that the end product creates such ripples in the fashion scene.
