With brooding good looks and highly eccentric behavior, it is no surprise that Johnny Depp has identified with strange moody characters on screen. Depp first acted in the horror movie, A Nightmare on Elm Street. That was way back in 1984. In 1986 came Oliver Stone’s Platoon. His association with Tim Burton resulted in films like Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Corpse Bride. But instant global recognition came with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
His portrayal of the character Jack Sparrow was heavily influenced by Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. His most recent film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest has broken box office records within days of its release.
