Carlo Ponti And Sophia Loren

Carlo Ponti And Sophia Loren have enjoyed pure wedded bliss for nearly half a century. Ponti is an Italian film producer and does Loren need an introduction at all? The whole world is familiar with her beautiful face and knows about her acting skills, but very few know about her struggles during her childhood. Loren grew up in an impecunious family with her mother, elder sister Maria and other relatives. Loren was considered quite ugly in her childhood, though by the time she reached 15, her looks and attitude had both changed. From 1949, Loren started her career in films with itsy-bitsy roles here and there. Nothing concrete was achieved by her playing the role of extras. She won several regional beauty contests and at the same time modeled to support her mother and sister. Sophia Loren appeared in several movies which have made her immortal.

Her ascent started from late 1950’s. In Pride and Passion, her co stars were Frank Sinatra and Cary Grant. One interesting point needs to be mentioned here. Apparently Cary Grant was head over heels in love with her despite being with writer and actress Betsy Drake. Perhaps Loren also became emotionally attached, but how far the relationship went will never be known to the world. Her performance in Two Women, directed by Vittorio De Sica made waves in Cannes,

Berlin and Venice film festivals. In all these places she received awards for best performances. Loren had an Academy Award in her kitty for this film. Some of her better known films include The Millionairess, Lady L and A Countess from Hong Kong. She was good in portraying her character in films like A Breath of Scandal and Heller in Pink Tights. Peter Sellers was hopelessly infatuated with Loren and she regularly had to fend him off.
