Andre Agassi And Steffi Graf

Professional tennis circuit does not throw up many names of couples in a relationship either married or otherwise. Most of the players are in a relationship with someone outside the circuit. But two names stand out and both of them were giants in their own fields, that is, in the men’s and women’s circuit. They are Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf.

Andre Agassi has not been one of the most illustrious tennis players of all times, but with his tough, rugged looks had rocked the heart of many a young girl. He turned professional in 1986 and retired in 2006. In the Open era, he was one of the most prolific winners of the Grand Slams.

Agile and energetic in court, he won the men’s title in Australian Open in 1995, 2000, 2001, 2003, French Open in 1999, Wimbledon in 1992 and US Open in 1994 and 1999. Agassi was not only a great tennis player, he is one of the most socially involved tennis players of all times.

Women’s tennis circuit has to wait for along time to have another player like Steffi Graf. Graf is the proud winner of 22 Grand Slam singles title. It sure will be tough to beat that one! She has won the Olympic Gold in 1988. Creating a record for staying in the number one slot for 377 weeks, Steffi Graf’s career is simply a tale of trophies and medals won at regular intervals and with ease. Graf was comfortable playing on all surfaces and her innumerable Grand Slam trophies are a testimony to her awesome talent as a tennis player.

Steffi Graf was good friends with German race car driver Michael Bartels but that friendship did not take a turn towards anything more. After Agassi’s divorce proceedings from his former wife Brooke Shields were finalized, he started dating Graf and they married in October 2001. With huge experience of an intensely competitive sport as a part of their lives, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf have many things to make their relationship work. Graf is a full time home maker, though she takes keen interest in her husband’s career. Best of luck to them from My Dear Valentine.

Eventually Fulbert comes to know about their marriage and feels that Abelard has destroyed Heliose life and in order to take revenge on Abelard, Fulbert hires some goons to teach him a lesson. The goons attack Abelard one night and castrate him. Feeling ashamed Abelard goes to a monastery at the Abbey of St Denis and becomes a monk. And in spite Abelard's objections Heliose also becomes a nun. At a later period Heliose becomes the mother superior and earns the recognition of a successful administrator. And at around 1132, Abelard and Heliose once again begin to interact with each other.

Abelard establishes a chapel called Pareclete as a gift to Heliose and eventually becomes the mother superior. On the other hand, Abelard becomes the abbot of the monastery at Saint-Gildas-de Rhuis. Peter, the Venerable of Cluny, takes care of Abelard in his last days. Sometime later Heliose also leaves her earthly abode. Abelard and Heliose are buried by the side in a single tomb in the Abbey of St Denis in Paris. Abelard's sister adopts their son.
