John Alden and Priscilla Mullins

Valentines Day is observed worldwide on 14th February. This day came to be associated with love in the Middle Ages as it was courtly love that flourished in the Middle Ages. The love stories have an appeal of their own and love story of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins is quite well known.

The romance of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins is one of the earliest romances in the American colonies. The story goes that Alden and Priscilla arrived at Mayflower in 1630. Satndish, an old captain, a man of actions took a liking to Priscilla. Standish fell short of courage to talk to Priscilla about his liking for her, so he sent his friend Alden to convey to Priscilla, Standish's love for Priscilla.
When Arden told Priscilla about Standish's feelings for her, then Priscilla replied by stating that,

why doesn't Alden speak for himself. Alden and Priscilla were in love but they were not able to convey their love to each other, as they feared that if Standish gets to know about their love affair then Stasndish might get offended. When Alden and Priscilla came to know that Standish got killed while fighting with the Indians, they decided to get married. However Standish did not get killed and appeared at the end of the wedding of Alden and Priscilla. Instead of showering his anger on them he gave his blessings to Alden and Priscilla and asked them to forgive him for his previous behavior.
