Dating Advice

The dating practices are changing rapidly and at times it becomes difficult to set rules for dating. Today men and women date different kinds of people and it becomes difficult to go by the dating rules or ideas to judge them on the same scale. For instance it becomes difficult for men to understand the women they date as some women are traditional who would appreciate if the man they date open the door for them. Whereas on the other hand some women are very independent and they will take offense for the same action. It may not be possible to set standard rules for dating but there are certain universal tips which have been time tested and have yielded good results for men and women who have followed them.
Here are some of the advices on dating which would win over the heart of your special one:

  • While meeting for the first time, both man and woman should remember that they are seeing a stranger and in that meeting you shouldn't ask anything that you yourself may not want to answer. So it is advised to avoid questions that are none of your concern.

  • Try to stay away from topics like religion or politics during your initial dating phase.

  • You should not be making any impression about your date on your first meeting. Both man and woman should look their best and most importantly feel confident. Even if your partner is an average looking man, don't judge him by his looks. Give him some time. Let him start talking and try to understand him. He may turn out to be an excellent person who's kind and generous. The best is to keep only few seconds of your time for judging him physically and rest of the time should be spent on evaluating him as a person.

  • Sometimes it is advised to just be a listener. You should be attentive when your partner takes to talking. You can just ask questions in between and your partner will think that you're a great companion.

  • Try having eye contact with your partner once in a while. Neither look at another side avoiding eye contact with your partner. This will indicate that either you're rude or you have no interest on what he or she is talking. On the other hand do not stare at your partner for a long time. Try maintaining a balance.

  • During the initial days of dating, it is advised to date in public places. It has two advantages. Firstly it is safe as you really don't know much about the person you're dating. He is still a stranger for you. And secondly, when you are short of anything to talk, being in the public place will give you enough distractions which is far better than feeling uncomfortable sitting next to your date.

  • You should offer to share the bill if you have visited any coffee shop or if you have gone for dinner. It is better to “go Dutch” rather than having one person pay the bill. This is probably the most uncomfortable situation in dating when the time comes to pay the bill. Normally the person who asks for the date pays the bill. But it is advised to split the bill.

  • Send an email or make a phone call to your partner after you had a date with her saying how much you enjoyed her company. Following up with your date doesn't mean you're expecting to go out again but it is courteous to do so.
