Most Romantic Things to Do on a Rainy Day for Couples
When the sun doesn’t shine, it might seem like there is nothing for you and your sweetie to fill your time with, but there are plenty of romantic things to do on a rainy day for couples.
If you are like most people, though you probably have a hard time coming up with ideas – most of our free time is spent out of the house, after all!
You’ll probably have a case of cabin fever, but here is a mix of choices that you can enjoy at home or after a quick drive.
Spend Some Time in the Kitchen
How often do the two of you prepare meals for each other? If you’re like a lot of couples, breakfast in bed or a decadent lunch is a rare treat. Since you’re going to be inside anyway, why not make the whole day about incredible food? Make a competition out of it – prepare comment cards just like the judges on TV shows!
Bring Out the Board Games
When you were young, chances are rainy days meant hours huddled around the table playing Life, Monopoly or Candyland. Take the opportunity to be like a kid again! Toss all the technology aside and enjoy some low-fi fun playing games you did as a child.
Squeeze in a Massage
The soothing sound of raindrops against your window sill is a tempting backdrop to an afternoon nap, yet you might decide to go for a nice rubdown instead. See if you can find a local massage therapist with an opening for two, then enjoy relaxing while two professionals work out all your kinks.
It seems like every other romantic movie nowadays has a scene in which the leading actors are dancing in the rain and exchanging impassioned kisses. Why not give Hollywood a run for its money and make a steamy scene of your own? (Cameras optional.)
Spend an Afternoon Window Shopping
Does your town have a district filled with distinctive shops? What better day to do some window shopping than when the rain is falling – nobody else will be out there! Grab an umbrella and throw on some jackets, then take a stroll among the storefronts and pretend you could buy everything you want!
Snuggling on the couch is a perfect activity for couples on a rainy day. Some might choose to simply talk or even read books, yet the best way to inject some romance is to watch a string of classic love stories. Thanks to streaming video services, there are nearly unlimited choices – you could go with black-and-white romances between Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr or opt for more recent favorites, such as Sleepless in Seattle or The Notebook.
Take in a Museum
Rainy days are the perfect opportunity to do romantic things you might not otherwise think of, which is why heading out to the nearest art gallery should be on your list. The gorgeous masterpieces will make you want to talk, but the library-like quiet means you’ll have no choice but to get close to do it. For an added bit of romance, you can pretend you are in one of the world’s most famous museums – the Louvre or the Metropolitan Museum of Art, for example.
