How to Let Go Of Your Ex Girlfriend

She is sweet. She is sexy. But she’s also your ex. Meaning, someone from your past.

A breakup itself is a painful process.

And the intensity of the suffering will only subside once you let go of your ex girlfriend and be prepared to welcome new beginnings.
 

  1. Call up your guy friends and enjoy the ‘man’ times : How long has it been that you invited your guy friends for a sports night over beer? Or planned a game of basketball with them? Or perhaps squeezed in some plain man to man conversation? Well, bringing all the fun times back to your life is just a phone call away.
     
  2. Do away with all the reminders: Clinging on to your ex girlfriend’s photos, belongings and other material stuff would actually make you cling on to the emotional side of it too. Put away or throw out all that. Even this exercise would make you feel better instantly.
     
  3. Start a hobby that you did not get time to nurture: Had all your weekends and free times blocked for your ex girlfriend? Did that mean letting go of a hobby you were and still are passionate about? It’s time you concentrated on those to have some satisfying time.
     
  4. Avoid Her: Avoid her at all costs – meeting, calls – communication of any form. Shutting her out of your life is the first signal to your mind that the relationship is over and it’s time to move on.
     
How to Let Go Of Your Ex Girlfriend

 

  1. Reclaim your own space: If your ex girlfriend had moved in with you, chances are she has left her mark on your home. Reclaim your own space. Give it a fresh coat of paint. Change the furniture layout. Stash away the girlie dcor stuff she had incorporated to your interiors. She should in no way be part of your space any more.
     
  2. Don’t brood: Brooding and feeling low is the last thing that you should do. It only engulfs you to a feeling of general negativity.
     
  3. Don’t feel bitter: Getting bitter and being judgmental about people in general will make you lose companions and friends.
     
  4. Surround yourself with friends and family: An empathetic ear will soothe you and make you feel wanted all over again. Surrounding yourself with family and friends will not only make you feel that you are not alone, but also give you some happy times and memories.
     
  5. Don’t think of the past: Don’t think of all the happy times that you’ve had with your ex girlfriend. Glorifying the happy times will only make you miss them. Instead concentrate on the reasons of your break-up. That will bring clarity to your thoughts.
     
  6. Realize the situation is beyond your control: Relationship is a two-way consent. Accept this. A break-up is beyond your control. It’s better learn to live with this reality.
     

Trust me, you don’t have to depend on your past for the happiness in your life. Your future is full of promises. To let go of your girlfriend may not be an overnight process. But a few simple steps would help to fade her out of the life together with all the pain.
