How to decorate a room for Valentine’s Day

Posted on :2014-01-18 in

Are you romantic at heart? Or do you shy away from Valentine’s Day celebrations? Do you believe any day could be a day for love? But even then do you find lack of time in your busy schedule for romance?

Grab the opportunity to remedy that this Valentine’s Day by planning a day that is romantic from the beginning to the end. And since romance, like charity, should begin at home, here are tips to create the right mood for romance this Valentine’s Day by creating an ambiance in your own home that screams love and romance.

If a house full of romance seems too much for you, pick any room, say your bedroom or a den, and transform it to your love nest.

  1. Adorn your home with Red and Pink Hearts: The easiest way to do this is to bring some heart shaped balloons in red and pink and strategically place them in your room. If you are industrious enough, you could make hearts out of card-boards, paint them the color of your choice, and then add a personal message or simply your names wrapped in a heart symbol.

  1. Give you home a sweet touch with Candies, Cookies and Chocolates: Bring out the sweetness with candies, cookies and chocolates displayed on elegant glass bowls. Homemade is always the best. Else grab heart shaped ones from your nearly confectionary.

  2. Light up your home with a lovely glow: Add dimmer to your regular lighting. Add mood lighting with beautiful floral shaped candles. Swap your regular lampshades with darker ones to create a mysterious light and shade effect.

  3. Bring home the colors of love: Add colors of love to your home with furnishing. Change throw pillow-covers, curtains and throws with ones in red, pink and similar shades of passion. If so much work (and expense) seems a bit too much to you, just strategically place beautiful ribbons, streamers and festoons.

  4. Dress up your bed: For a night of romance, make your bed with plush beddings of silk or satin in rich colors. Add heart shaped pillows with lace trims for added pizzazz.

  5. Bring in romantic melody: A soft melodious romantic music airing in the background will help set the mood.

  6. Get amorous with sensuous aroma: Aromatic diffuser, scented candles and room fragrance will provide the right amount of soothing as you get cozy with each other.

  7. Don’t shy from glitters and glows: Let your love shine with shimmering trims added to your room décor. Glittering hearts in silver as wall stickers or spraying some glitters on the balloons and bouquets will create festive spirit.

  8. Freshen up with flowers: flowers always add vibrancy to any room. Add in dozens in your favorite color, or go wild by mixing them up!

  9. Champagne and strawberries to heighten the mood: Nothing says celebration better than popping a bottle of champagne. Celebrate your love with champagne paired with sweet luscious strawberries.

Remember, these were basic tips and broad guidelines. Give it a personal touch by incorporating all those special touches only you would know that will turn her/him on.
