Four Hints for When You Date a Celebrity

Posted on :2012-06-27 in

If the glamorous life of your favorite movie star or sports icon seems appealing, you wouldn’t be the first to wonder what it takes to date a celebrity.  Connecting with a heartthrob from Hollywood’s most recent blockbuster or a songbird lighting up the Billboard charts is a common fantasy, but what happens if it actually becomes a possibility?

If you knew a friend of your crush, wouldn’t you leap at the chance to make a pass at him or her?  Here are four tips that will help you land the big fish you are hoping to:

  • Play it Cool

Chances are the celebrity you have your eye on is surrounded by fawning members of both sexes at all hours of the day.  You might feel like one of them, but acting like it will keep you from standing out from the crowd.

When everyone else is shouting and screaming in adoration, you want to be calm and collected.  Be polite and engaging, yet not overawed or lightheaded because you are in the presence of stardom.

Instead of getting all worked up because the moment you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived, relax and take a few deep breaths, stand tall and be confident.  You’ll make a far better impression and increase the likelihood of a positive result.

Four Hints for When You Date a Celebrity
  • Find a Way to Connect

As with dating anyone else, you have to figure out a way in which the two of you have common ground.  You might be tempted to gush over his or her accomplishments on the silver screen or playing field, but that’s exactly the opposite of what you want.

Even though stars often live on a different level than the rest of us, they are ultimately still people.  What would you do when you met up with an attractive person on the street?  Would you talk about how the way he or she did accounting for a major company?  Of course not!  You’d learn more about them as an individual through small talk, then proceed based on similarities.  Do the same in this situation.

  • Keep In Touch

This is where you’ll have to walk a fine line between being politely persistent and stalking the object of your desire.  If you are able to secure a personal phone number or email address, then you have a great shot at seeing your star of choice again.

However, you have to remember that he or she probably receives dozens or hundreds of calls and messages per day.  When you reach out, be sure to jog his or her memory about where you met and what you discussed.

Give them a couple of days or more to respond before you contact them again, as this is much different than your typical pursuit of someone with an office job and house in the suburbs.

  • Be Wary of Your Privacy

As your relationship progresses, you must realize the possibility you will be in the public eye increases by the day.  You must understand that, since you are paired up with one of the most visible people on the planet, your day-to-day routines might become the subject of discussion for people all over the world.

The adjustment may be tough, but once you get accustomed to the flashes of the paparazzi and crowds gathering as you walk arm in arm down the street, you’ll be able to enjoy the trappings of life with your star.
